HELENA VALLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL
Helena Valley Primary School was established in 1927, and is nestled amongst the trees in the Perth foothills, where many of the families choose to live for the semi rural lifestyle offered by Helena Valley.
Students at Helena Valley Primary School are recognised for their positive attitude towards learning and respect for peers. Students are offered educational opportunities to develop their individual skills and knowledge through early identification of strengths and weaknesses. The school offers specialist areas of Music, Art, Italian and Physical Education. Excelling students are identified and nominated for Gifted and Talented Programs (EYE, PEAC and Kalamunda Extension Program) and Instrumental Music School. Students are offered the opportunity to participate in a variety of supplementary programs including Interschool Sport, Science, Spelling, Public Speaking and The HEC Arts Festival. Those students who may be determined to be “at risk” educationally are administered through a case management approach working in partnership between the school, staff and family.
The school consistently receives positive feedback from families reflecting the community spirit engendered at Helena Valley Primary School. The school staff work closely with dedicated parents through the P&C and School Council. Parents and Community members are encouraged to volunteer in the school to assist in a range of positions available across the school year e.g. Support-A-Reader, Canteen, Parent Helper, Special events helper.
Staff at Helena Valley Primary School are encouraged to be committed, experienced educators. Staff work in partnership with educators at Sawyers Valley Primary School in Professional Learning Communities, focusing on peer observation and feedback for performance growth. Currently, Helena Valley is one of eleven schools that make up the Hills Education Community, a long running network of hills schools.
